Swap It Like it's Hot #4

Guess what day it is!

Hump day, yes, but it's also my day to show off my up-cycled thrifty goodness! This is the second time I joined the Swap It Challenge. My first attempt looked like this

If you're not familiar with the 'Swap It like Its Hot' phenomenon, this is how it works. A group of crafty DIY bloggers get together and sign up for this event. Each person sends a package full of promise to the next person on the list. The package must contain goodies in the $10-15 range from a thrift store.

Next, the receiving blogger opens the package and thinks to herself, "Oh bleep! What the heck am I going to do with this?" She procrastinates for several weeks, scans Pinterest, wakes up in a cold sweat at 3am, considers every option, and eventually perseveres, all the while taking pictures.

I don't have pictures of my 3am freak outs. It's for the best. Naturally curly hair is a nightmare at 3am. Or any hour.

I received these beauties from Meagan, of the Charming Farmer.

A basket, two shelves, and two bed springs.

The shelves were pretty easy. I pushed them together, painted them white, and said, "Hey! My plant would look pretty on this!"

The basket also got a coat of that same white paint. I found a scrap of denim fabric and called it a day.

The springs were a challenge. All of the existing
projects I found were too "country" for my liking. Too primitive. At the very last minute I used the springs to create this Halloween mantle.

Care to see what I sent to my blogger? This is what Tasha from Designer Trapped In A Lawyer's Body received:

I'm headed over there right now to see what she created!

  1. Everything was great but I love love love those springs used as vases. It reminds me of how they serve french fries to make them look fancy!
