You will need three panels to make a headboard for your bed. So, to create you cane headboard, follow the steps below:

  1. Create three frames from poplar wood that fits the width of your bed.
  2. Staple the long side of the board to the short one at the back.
  3. Wrap your cane around the built frame and keep the strands secure together.
  4. After the first strand, attach it to your frame and begin with the next one.
  5. Continue the procedure until you’ve wrapped and attached about 100 strands to the frame’s back.
  6. Turn the whole thing 90 degrees, and in a corner, attach one strand on the back of the frame’s long side.
  7. Staple about nine more until you’ve secured 10 strands to the frame.
  8. Weave the 10 strands under and over the perpendicular strands. Do this until you reach the frame’s end, and staple.
  9. Apply 10 strands to the opposite side. Weave them until you’ve covered the whole frame.
  10. Secure the frames by reinforcing two poplar boards at the back.

How to Make Seashell Fish

Are you fond of collecting seashells but don’t know what to do with them?  Well, you can use them as decoration for your picture frames, school projects, fridge, etc. If you don’t have a collection, you can purchase them at craft shops, thrift stores, flea markets, and garage sales. Most often, you will see a bag of shells sold in stores.

Materials needed:

  • Seashells
  • Grab glue
  • Googly eyes

Step-by-step instructions for making seashell fish

  1. To create seashell fish, prepare the seashells in different sizes. Lay out the shells depending on how you want your fish to look like. You can use the big pieces as bodies and make fins from the small ones.
  2. Prepare some glue and googly eyes to give them a real look. If you’re doing it yourself, you can use hot glue. However, if you’re with kids, the typical glue will do. However, it can be a bit difficult since it can take time to dry up and the seashells may be more movable.
  3. Glue on one big shell with a small one and make it look like a fish.
  4. Then glue the googly eyes to your fish.
  5. You can take the creativity further by gluing the fish to a foam core board with blue cellophane that looks like a faux sea.

Tips for Making Oobleck

Do you want your kids to be more active and creative? If yes, then teach them how to make their own Oobleck! An Oobleck has the same properties as slime and comes in both liquid and solid form.

It can also be likened to a quicksand which is a great way to keep your kids active and creative.

Materials needed:

  • Corn starch
  • Food coloring
  • Plastic bowl
  • Measuring cup
  • Plastic spoon
  • Water

Here are the instructions on how to create this intriguing art:

  1. Fill the plastic bowl with one cup of water.
  2. Add about one and a half cup of cornstarch in the water.
  3. Use a plastic spoon to mix the water and cornstarch together. When it starts to get difficult to stir with the plastic spoon, use your hands to mix it well.
  4. Please take note that you need to add some drops of food coloring to give it some life. Do this before mixing the ingredients with your hands.
  5. Mix thoroughly.
  6. If you think your product is too watery, add some cornstarch. However, if it’s dry, add some water.

Oobleck is easy to make. You just need to make sure you get the correct consistency. An Oobleck can be slimy in a minute and hard as a dough the next minute, making it fun to play with. If you want to use it for an extended time, place the Oobleck in a tightly sealed plastic container.
